A, B, C can finish a piece of work in 11 days, 20 days and 55 days respectively, if A works on one day with B and C on the next day alternately, then in how much time will the work be finished? Will it take?

Let's first find the work done by each person per day by taking the reciprocal of their individual working days. This gives us:

  • A: 1/11 work per day
  • B: 1/20 work per day
  • C: 1/55 work per day

When A works with B and C on alternate days, the work done in two days is:

(1/11 + 1/20 + 1/55) + (1/20 + 1/55) = (6/55) + (3/110) = (15/110) = (3/22)

So, they complete (3/22)th of the work in 2 days. This means they can complete the entire work in (22/3) * 2 = 44/3 days, which is approximately 14.67 days.

Therefore, the work will be finished in approximately 14.67 days.
